Students at Pierre de Coubertin  recently participated in personal safety workshops presented by the Missing Children’s Network in collaboration with Mr.  Lacroce.

The sessions were delivered by Marie-Éloïse Lavoie-Martel and reached Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and Cycle 2 students. Through the organization’s How I Stay Safe! initiative, students explored practical ways to stay safe online and in their everyday lives.

Younger students participated in I Stay Safe, an age-appropriate program that introduces personal safety concepts and encourages children to seek help from trusted adults. Students in Grades 3 and 4 took part in SHINE Junior, a program designed to build self-confidence and personal awareness.

Through interactive activities and discussions, students learned about healthy boundaries, body autonomy, safe and unsafe secrets, and the importance of recognizing trusted adults they can turn to for support. “Teaching children how to stay safe also means giving them the confidence to ask questions, set boundaries, and speak up when something doesn’t feel right,” said Mr. Lacroce. “These workshops provide practical tools while reinforcing the message that trusted adults are always there to help.” This collaboration with the Missing Children’s Network reflects Pierre de Coubertin Elementary School’s commitment to student well-being and prevention education.

By making important safety lessons engaging, accessible, and age-appropriate, the workshops provided students with valuable life skills they can carry into their homes, school, and community."
