PDC December Newsletter
Holiday Week - December 9-16
We had many different activities for our children to celebrate this Holiday season with their classmates.
On December 9, our Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten students had a visit from Santa Claus. The children were mesmerized by his presence.
December 10 the students had a dress down day and wrote Holiday cards to peers.
December 11, the students wore their Holiday headgear and we had a school wide bingo game. Class 302 won the game and had their pizza party on December 16.
December 14, the students were treated to a Holiday breakfast which took place in their class. We would like to thank Mr. Vic Colalillo from Plaza Universel for making the delicious breakfast and accommodating the many students who had food restrictions. The children and staff also wore their pajama to school. All classes had a special visit from Santa Claus who delivered gifts for all our students. Our Governing Board provided books for all students this Holiday season.
December 15, we had Ms. Beneteau who came to tell stories to our children. She will return on January 12 to enchant the classes she did not tell stories to on December 15. The children also made their own Holiday ornament.
December 16, the last day was a festive dress up day and we had a school wide virtual sing-a-long.
We would like to thank the Holiday Committee (Ms. Tonia, Ms. Rosa, Ms, Sara, M. Lisa and the PDC administration) for making this event joyful for our students and our music teacher for preparing the sing-a-long.
Act of Kindness Campaign
We are so humbled to see that our PDC Families came together to collect $2700 with our Act of Kindness for families in our community. Due to your donations, we were able to provide several grocery gift cards to families in our community. We would like to thank Mr. Monachino who helped us with this event.
Covid
At PDC, we continue to provide a safe and clean environment for all our students and staff. The frequently touched areas are disinfected every 2 hours. The children are asked to disinfect their hands upon entry in the school and prior to entering the washroom. The students’ desks are disinfected twice daily and most classes are equipped with sinks so the students may wash their hands with soap.
PDC is equipped with mechanical ventilation which has a dual filter system. This allows for fresh air to be circulated rather than recycled.
Lockdown January 4-8, 2021
As instructed by our Prime Minister Francois Legault, the students will return to class on January 11, 2021. January 4th is a pedagogical day on our calendar; hence, the students will begin their online instruction on January 5th – 8th. You will find your child’s(ren) online schedule on google classroom.
If you filled out a survey in September regarding the need for technology, you have received an email informing you of the pickup date and how to book your time.
Day Care Services – January 4-8, 2021
The PDC day care will be open during the lockdown week to provide service to parents who are essential workers only. More information will follow regarding registration.
On behalf of the entire staff of Pierre De Coubertin School, we would like to wish you and your family the very best for the Holiday Season. May the New Year be filled with Peace, Happiness and Health.
Kind Regards,
